Tutors and language students from the University of Sussex Centre for Language Studies will work with invited sixth form students on a language and media workshop.
Guided by tutors and supported by language ambassador degree students, participants will work collaboratively to create a radio interview to be broadcast in French. The structure of the interview, centred on the "Third Year Abroad" experience, will be planned during an initial language workshop where students will also be introduced to key specialist vocabulary and concepts.
In a following session, the group will be introducted to the professional media editing studios and facilities in the School of Media, Film and Music. Here they will record and edit the interviews to be later available as podcasts.
During 2013-14 language students at Sussex created and designed three radio shows which were broadcast and offered as podcasts on the increasingly popular station French Radio London. The broadcasts (from 3rd, 10th, 17th December 2013) can be listened to here.
