Teachers' Workshop - afternoon with cream tea
The objectives of this day are to:
- provide a taster of language study in a University environment to develop/raise aspiration to HE and in particular to the study of MFL Post 16 and beyond;
- support the curriculum in areas associated with MFL;
- stimulate and challenge students in the practical application of language skills.
The day, running from 9.30 – 2.30 will focus on three languages, French, Spanish and German, and a lesser taught subject designed to provide the opportunity for participants to “learn a language from scratch”. The visit will include a campus tour and the opportunity to spend time with current UWE students to gain a real insight into life as a student in higher education.
We are delighted to announce that our big annual Celebrating Success Event will take place on Wednesday 24th June at the University of Bath this year.
The event will run in two parts:

This course extends over the period of 4 weeks and comprises 12 5-minute talks by members of academic staff on books, slogans, monuments and images from various cultures. It will help develop an understanding of how language and objects/ artefacts can reveal insights into nations.
This four-week course will also give you a taste of the university’s BA in Modern Languages where cultural studies plays a key role in the degree alongside the study of foreign languages.
