We are delighted to continue our Adopt A Class scheme with secondary schools in the academic year 2015/16.
In this project, Student Language Ambassadors who are about to embark on their year abroad will be linked with a class (age group may vary) in a secondary school during the final term of the academic year. While the student is on his/her year abroad, s/he will maintain contact with the class via email, sharing academic and (suitable) personal experiences so that the class can see what exciting things they've been getting up to, find out how the culture differs from their own and what learning a language abroad is like.
This scheme aims to:
- Raise pupil awareness of language opportunities including studying abroad
- Familiarise pupils with life in another country
- Enhance pupils' cultural awareness
- Offer pupils authentic language material
- Disseminate information on student mobility schemes
- Increase language up-take in GCSE, A-level and University
In some cases it might be possible to link Student Language Ambassadors with their former schools. Please note that it will not be possible to choose the destination country of Student Ambassador.
