The University of Bristol is hosting a Modern Languages Day for Year 8 pupils from the local schools on Thursday 28th January 2016.
Programme:
The pupils will participate in two workshops (one ICT and one drama-based) on one of three languages they currently study (French, German or Spanish) and a further workshop on one language they have not encountered at school (Spanish, Italian or Russian).
The workshops have been devised by PGCE students at the University's Graduate School for Education to make use of the very latest in teaching and learning methods, and will take place in the University's teaching rooms, including the state-of-the-art Multi-Media Centre. Routes into Languages Student Ambassadors will also participate in the workshops in order to support student learning and give the pupils an opportunity to interact with university students / gain insights into university life.
This will culminate in a final plenary session led by Dr Debbie Pinfold and the
Language Ambassadors entitled 'What do you do when you've learned all the words?' - a presentation on what it is like to study languages at university, including a discussion about the year abroad and Q&A with the Language Ambassadors.
