A competition for language specialist secondary and supplementary schools in London to create an on-line front-page “poster” and then, either four additional pages, or a video, on welcoming young Olympic visitors to London.
Materials may be in any language taught in the school. and submitted in PowerPoint or a similar programme.
Entry is free
Rules and Procedures:
The content may include facts about the school's local area, places to visit, where to eat, how to get around the area, and a glossary of sport terms and greetings, all in the chosen language. We hope to cover as many languages as possible (not just the ones on the ATLAS site).
Competitors will enter as a group or pair. One entry per language per school only. (A school may like to consider running an internal competition to choose the best).
The language must be one taught in the school (mainstream or supplementary). The competitors should be learners at the level, or a level equivalent to, Key Stage 3 or 4 of formal learning of the target language.
The deadline for entries is Friday 18 December 2009.
The best entry in each language will be put up on the ATLAS web site, and will remain there, publicising the school and demonstrating the diversity of languages in London schools.
Certificates will be awarded at a presentation ceremony and there will be an organised tour of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
