The School of Languages and Area Studies (SLAS) at the University of Portsmouth is looking for budding writers and poets to show their hidden talents at writing in a foreign language that they are studying.
To enter the competition, post-16 AS/A2 students are asked to submit either a story or a poem in a foreign language of their choosing. The topic that you should write on is “‘What I like most about (France, Spain, Germany, Italy etc.’)”.
Stories should be no more than 500 words in length. Poems may have considerably fewer words. A maximum of three entries per language per school or college can be accepted.
Individual prizes will be awarded for imagination, originality, structure, vocabulary and grammatical accuracy.
In addition, a special prize will be awarded for the best submission from a school as a whole, with all entries from the institution being taken into account.
The best works will be featured in an online anthology hosted by the University of Portsmouth.
