Following last year’s success, the University of Sussex Centre for Language Studies invites Year 8 pupils studying German to attend a half-day ‘German Fairy Tales’ workshop on campus.
Join us for a day of fun and creative activities using Brothers Grimm fairy tales to practise German outside the classroom and get to know different aspects of German culture.
The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm have had an immense cultural impact throughout the world and are an important part of German cultural history. This workshop allows pupils to learn how their collected tales, the Kinder-und Hausmärchen, have changed over time and how these changes reflect developments within the German culture.
The day will involve a series of activities devised around German fairy tales and culminate in the students performing a well-known fairy tale using shadow puppets. Students will be given a range of characters to choose from so that they can engage in the performance at a level they are comfortable.
The play will be recorded and sent to schools as a memento of this enjoyable language day!
5-20 places available.
