Training teachers of interpreting

Date:
Wednesday, 9 November, 2011 - 00:00
Event Type:
Workshop
Region:
National network for interpreting
Location:
University of Leeds

Our Training teachers of interpreting workshop is nearly here! Offered in partnership with LLAS, this session is for MFL tutors teaching, or who would like to teach, interpreting at undergraduate level. With the growing demand for English mother-tongue interpreters in international organisations, many MFL departments are adding interpreting modules to their curricula. This has brought us back to a question high on the agenda a few decades ago; should interpreting be taught at undergraduate or postgraduate level?

Learn more about the difference between interpreting training at these levels; explore the skills undergraduates will need to progress to professional training; discover the effectiveness of interpreting as a language-learning tool. (Participants will have the opportunity to have a go at a range of practical exercises. These can then be offered to the students they teach.)

Training teachers of interpreting takes place on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at the University of Leeds. Visit the NNI teachers’ events page for further details or the LLAS website to register interest.
